Short Stories My first short story won a contest in 2003. It is based on a section of my first novel Stormy View. It features my main character Kennalyn Jones when she was a teenager. To read Our Afternoon Walk, click here. The next story is a prize in a local fundraising event. This is a little different for me because one of the main characters is a german shepherd. Its a good thing that my cat can't read :) Lilah and the Locket is my first attempt at writing a murder mystery. I started out to make it a short story, but its over 20,000 words - or 80 pages. Click here to see Lilah, Nathan and Kristie and to read Lilah's story. Another short story that I'm working on is about a woman named Olivia. This story proves that ideas can come from anywhere. A television show that I watch had a storyline that was about to be resolved and I was sure I knew what they planned to do next. However, I was wrong. But, the twist was still a great idea and will be included in Olivia's story. You can learn about Olivia and the things she has faced. Her supportive and loving mother Kat will tell you all about her brave daughter. You will even meet Kat's friend Mavis who gets her through the tough times. Click here to read the opening of Olivia's story.
Short Stories That You Might Enjoy A Whisper on the Waves - This story gives the reader background information about how Sara (from Widow's Walk and Lady Lightkeeper) came to America and how she met Captain Sullivan. Our Afternoon Walk -- This is the story mentioned at the top of the page which won a contest.
In the future I look forward to writing more detail about the background for some of the character's in my novels.
Characters from Widow's Walk
Characters from Lady Light Keeper
Characters from Stormy Shores & Stormy View
These are just some of the stories I would like to delve into deeper in the future. I'll add to the list as time goes by.
